Baked apples

(recipe provided by Easington NHS Primary Care Trust)
Serves: 2
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

* 1 large eating apple
* 140 g dried fruit, such as apricots, prunes or raisins

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/gas mark 4
2. Peel the apple, slice it in half and then remove the core
3. Chop the dried fruit into small pieces
4. Put the dried fruit mixture into the apple centre
5. Place the apple halves, face-up, on a baking tray and pour a mug of cold water around them
6. Put in the oven to bake for 30 minutes
7. Take the apples out of the oven and, for small children, chop into very small pieces
8. Leave to cool
9. Serve

Ideal for babies aged six months and over
